EGR Removal Questions
EGR Removal Questions
I'm about to get my car tuned by Ion at MadZ28.com and I am going to get him to disable the EGR. I found a 3 piece EGR Block Off Kit on Ebay and I was wondering if anyone could give me a good step-by-step procedure for taking off the EGR assembly and installing the block off plates on my 96 Z28. Thanks in advance.
Re: EGR Removal Questions
Pick them up from www.mycamaroz28.homestead.com, they are the original manufacture of these kits and are less expensive. They are board members on here too.
Mine came with instructions from them, though it's a pretty simple install none the less. Just remove everything and replace with the plates.
Don't use homemade gaskets, they don't work and will/can leak especially on the header plate. There never was a gasket available for that spot. The mating surfaces are not designed for a gasket. Use high temp RTV it won' t leak then.

Re: EGR Removal Questions
EGR is pretty simple. Remove 2 nuts on the valve, 2 on the pipe ( intake manifoldmanifold side) and 1 on the exhaust manifold. takes 30 minutes. Put some high temp RTV on the block-offs, let cure for at least an hour, and have at it
