EGR question on a 96z

I am in the process of putting headers on the 96z, my question is in regards to the EGR. Will the car throw a code or have any negative issues, if I block off the tube that runs from the pass. side header to the back of the intake ONLY? I will leave the parts of the egr system intact and not have the EGR tuned out of the computer.
Thanks

It might if the PCM does not see a corresponding change in O2 readings when the EGR is activated.

Considering you have an OBD2 vehicle...I would say yes, most likely you will throw a DTC.

The PCM cycles the EGR valve, and looks for the corresponding change in manifold absolute pressure (MAP). If the EGR riser tube is blocked off, the MAP will not change, and you will get likely a code.
