Re: egr question

Plus as far as I know, EGR is there to control NOx at high combustion chamber temperatures, not "CH" (HC?)

Re: egr question

If the egr solenoid is unplugged from its electrical connector does the computer still try to add timing or does it shut off the egr and have the same effect as tuning it out?

Re: egr question

SlowMoComotion:
Good question! I believe the PCM will NOT add timing because it "thinks" there is an EGR equipment failure. It WILL store an EGR failure code. Your state auto inspection will count that code when it decides whether or not the car passes inspection. Short of reprogramming out the EGR function, just pulling the plug is the best way to eliminate EGR. (again; if a resistor is inserted in the plug then the PCM will "think" the EGR works and add timning)

Re: egr question

Thank you for your quick response. In Tunerpro RT under the flags section i disabled the egr electrical failure error, and egr diagnostic error so i do not get a SES light on my dash. I still have the connector to the solenoid unplugged. I figured this was a band-aid solution so I can get driving until I learn how to properly tune it out.
