EGR question
I am almost done installing my non-emission headers on my TA. I don't want to spend $30 on block off plates. Is there anything I can do to not spend it? Could I just crimp/seal the tube off at the bottom?
Cut a diamond shaped plate (you can cut it from a soda can) to match the flange on the corrugated tube, drill two holes in it so it will slip over the studs on the back of the manifold, then bolt the corrugated tube flange back on to sandwich the metal plate to the intake. A small amount of RTV on the manifold side will ensure a good seal. Cost.... "0".

If you want them alittle cheaper email me and we can cut Ebay out and I can knock off $2 if you want. And about the gaskets, I don't think they are nessessary. When I installed mine over 2 years ago I used some RTV to make a small bead, let it set for about 10 minutes to stiffin alittle and install. I have had no problems at all. With the heat now taken off the back of the intake manifold you don't have to worry about the RTV getting cooked. I thought about making gaskets like some of the other guys are that are selling them, bet felt they wern't needed. I use .250 tool plate 6061-T6 aluminum and is very flat. So if you clean off the mating surface well, and use alittle RTV, there shouldn't be any problems.
