After recent header install I have had troulble connecting back up the AIR tubes coming off of headers. So, I plugged the small tubes, removed the AIR pump, and blocked off tube where it goes in the back side of the intake. My question is, can I just leave the EGR valve on and not remove it? Will this cause any problems? I have a 93. thanx

 

If the valve is connected to the intake, and the vacuum hose is still connecting the valve to the solenoid, than the EGR valve will continue to try to operate, but won't be able to correctly. This will probably trigger an SES light. Steve at SJM Manufacturing makes some nice block off plates to do the job right.

 

I will get one of those block-off plates comming....but until then I need to drive the car. Will it affect milage and performance until I get one put on? Should I disconnect and plug the vaccum line until I get it on? Which way is best?

I believe the EGR valve will act as a block off plate if you remove the vacuum hose to it.
This is assuming its not stuck open.

 

That is correct. If you remove and plug the vacuum feed to it, it is effectively disabled in the closed position.

 

Thanks for everyones help. I blocked off where the AIR tube went in back of intake and plugged up the vacuum line to the EGR. Took for a drive...NO SES light!!! ...and runs like a raped ape!!
