EGR exhaust gas feed pipe

Want to eliminate this tube due to excessive heat on rear pass.side of engine. The original egr valve was always blocked off without any issues. I was just wondering what effects would I encounter with the removal of this
feed pipe.

Re: EGR exhaust gas feed pipe

As long as you block off the connection on the exhaust manifold, no problem. I also capped the opening on the intake manifold, but not essential.

EGR is used to minimize the formation of the pollutant "oxides of nitrogen" (NOx). NOx forms when the combustion temperatures begin to rise above normal. The exhaust gas quenches the temperatures by displacing O2 and fuel in the combustion chambers. A side benefit is the minimization of detonation (knock), particularly when lugging the engine at low RPM in the wrong gear. EGR is not used at idle, not used above 3,500 RPM and not used at WOT.
