EGR delete

ok finally deleted the egr when i change the manifold gaskets. When i delete it is it ok to disconnect the egr vacuum control signal solenoid valve too? or do i need to leave it connected for some reason. And if i do disconnect it. what do i do with the electrical plug? just put it out of the way?

You can remove it. It is dead weight. Make sure you cap off the intake nipple where the line once went. The plug is easily removed, and tucked. If I'm not mistaken you will throw a code unless you have a tuner take it out of the PCM. Ion at Madz28.com offers that service.

I'm not sure but I don't think a 95' will throw a code. I've done a little researching but I could be wrong......... it's happened a time or two before lol

Both OBD-I (93-95) and OBD-II (96-97) set a code for an incomplete circuit on the EGR solenoid. You can remove the solenoid, and put a resistor in the harness connector to eliminate that code. Code for the solenoid is DTC 27 in your 95.

OBD-I and OBD-II both check for EGR flow, by cycling the valve and looking for a change in the MAP sensor signal. The OBD-I test is not very sensitive, and usually doesn't set a code, but it is possible. The OBD-II is extremely sensitive, and almost always sets the code. Code for no EGR flow is DTC 32 in your 95.

I would leave the solenoid plugged in until you get a chance to have the EGR codes shut off in the PCM. Either way, if you do get an EGR code it won;t go into limp-home and the engine will ran fine.

Code for solenoid, or code for no flow, or both?
