EGR code

I have a 97 Trans Am and recently took of my cats. I have the o2 sims, but the SES light is on cause of the EGR not working properly. I started off taking the cats off and put on a DynoMax bullit muffler, but it sounded horrible and the SES light stayed on. So I bought a 3-chamber folw to put on. This helped out a little, but after a couple of weeks the SES light came back on for the ERG. The SES light only comes on every once in a while, but I would rather it not come on at all. Is there a way to fix this, cause if I have to change the exhaust again I'm just gonna either get Random high-flow cats or just say f&$k it and get Long tubes.

If you have headers, its probably due to that and lack of backpressure. The only way to get it turned off it by getting your computer reprogrammed. I put a new one in mine, but it only lasted 2 months before it messed up again.

Unfortunately Travis is correct, it's due to the lack of backpressure. I have the same problem when I have my offroad pipes in, but with the cats there's no problem. I've been to the track when my EGR wasn't working properly and it didn't hurt my track times, I think the valve just doesn't open when it should.

You can either have the code programmed out or experiment with the EGR simulator another board member created, it worked for him. Do a search for it.
