The LT4 cam had a LSA of 115 and didn't require the EGR. My cam has a 112, and without an EGR I pass a roller smog test easily. So, I would say, with a stock cam, 117 LSA, to delete it would be a mild hinderance to normal driving. Probably couldn't pass smog if you had to, just guessing.
I have custom programming and cats.

If you look at the tube and the port on the back of the manifold, you will find that the orifice is just about the same size as a dime. That is what I used to block mine off. Put a new gasket in coat it and the dime liberally with high temp RTV, and you will save your self a few bucks, and your car will be worth .10 more.

I reused all my old parts when taking off the egr. I took the valve off the back of the intake and cut a piece of house flashing off and siliconed it to the valve so it would block the valve off. I had to destroy the valve and just use the cast iron base of the valve. I then took the old EGR tube and cut it in half so i could get the fittings off of it and then welded the holes on the fitting shut and bolted them back on. 1 year later they are still good and it didn't cost me a dime.

i appreciate all of the replys. i really did not understand how it all works but after that article, i understand better. i still do have one question though. by how these posts sound, the car may run a bit warmer. i talked to someone with a 93 and he said that it ran quite cooler. with everyone that has done this mod, which is it? or does it run at about the same temp? thanks
