EGR block off question
EGR block off question
I am in a rush so here is what i did. I took the flex line(from pass side header to intake) loose at the intake and dropped a quarter in front of the hole and then retighened the 2 bolts on intake. I used a little high temp copper silicone on both sides. If I just unplug the EGRs vacuum would that be the same as takeing it off and putting a plate on? I will make the plates next week or buy some if I can't get to it but I need to know whats best to do now. Thanks Alan
Cant answer your question but, dud the quarter thing work? No leaks? If so thats what I am going to do. I have the LT4 block off plate now I just need to plug the other hole, and if I only have to spend .25 thats cool.
Thanks,
Jeff
Thanks,
Jeff
As long as the EGR is sealing and you remove the vacuum line so it cannot open, it should be as effective as a block off plate. Make sure you plug that vacuum off at the source, so you don't have a vacuum leak.
Here is a link for the plates and Steve will give you all the tech assistance you need.

i know how to do it for the pipe the runs to the exhaust manifold ill but it and roll/fold really tight with a vice and put some high temp rvt sealent around it, but is that the only one i need to remove to install hooker lt's
I am running obd1 right now. its already been programed out of the pcm. So as long as I plug the vacuum line going to the egr and I block off the exhast gas from entering the intake it should be fine. right? I just didn't know about the egr if it had to removed or what. Thanks Alan
