EGR anything to worry about?

A lot of people have told me that since my cat is gutted its likely causing it to throw this. my ses light comes on briefly sometimes but at idle usually turns off. so is my gutted cat causing this or does it soundlike something ese?

Find out what the code is so you're not guessing. could be anything.

If it is the EGR code P0400, it's not a big deal. I had the same problem and ran at the track with the code and my times were normal. I'm pretty sure it just doesn't open, which isn't a huge deal.

He's got OBD1 so it'd be DTC 32. OBD1 isn't normally this sensitive. Some people get away with completely removing EGR on the OBD1 cars without this code. I'd find out what code you're throwing.

Opening my Borla threw this code on my car. Closed it up, cleared code, and drove for several months without problems. One day I went back and opened it up again and drove it less than 10 mins and the code was back.

why do all these guys remove the egr valve, does it make that much of a difference with them off? i see more problems from guys who do this mod, if you want to call it a mod

Unfortunately I think a lot of "mods" are done to add something to the mod list or people think that since EGR is a pollution control it must be bad for performance. Sometimes people add longtube headers and don't want to mess with fittings or they have too many problems with clogging the valve.
