EGR and AIR PUMP????
EGR and AIR PUMP????
How does one turn these off without setting off a seris of check engine lights??? What do you need to take these off and make the engine run right and what kind of power increse do you get???
no power increase...5-8lb lost after the removal of the air pump is all youll see...
taking out the air pump is very hard unless youre doing a cam swap or something...it can simply be unplugged...
the egr just needs to be blocked off in the back of the intake...
if you decide to delete both of these, youll want to program them out of your pcm...

In your OBD-I 95, all you need to do is unplug the AIR pump, making sure there is a good fuse in the circuit. You will not get an SES light or a code if the fuse is OK.
On the EGR, IN GENERAL OBD-I will not set a code for a missing EGR valve. BUT IT IS POSSIBLE... I'd say a 5% chance that you will get a code. If you get the code, you will need to program.
But as noted, no power gain, and in giving up the EGR you will actually be losing some protection against detonation when lugging the engine in too high a gear - a side benefit of the eGR system.
