I heard that you could possibly crimp the metal line before the EGR, is that true or not?

i may be wrong,,,but
blocking the egr stops the hot air from the headers from being pulled into the intake right?

i heard from a technician that although the air from the headers is very hot,,its cooler than the air inside your cylinders, which is the egr's purpose right? to cool down the air in your cylinders? thats why i didn't block mine off, its on there for a reason.

I do believe the purpose of the EGR is to recirculate the exhaust back through again to burn off more of the pollutants. I dont think it has anything to do with cooling the cylinders.

For the smog ****'s Couldnt you just block off the pipe from the exhaust into the intake with a plate and still keep it stock looking?

The EGR system is used to lower NOx (oxides of nitrogen) emissions caused by high combustion temperature and excessive oxygen. Adding exhaust gas displaces oxygen and decreases combustion temps. It does provide some cooling effect, but not in the typical way.
