Edelbrock LT4 Intake on LT1 heads?

Will this work? I have a used Elde LT4 intake and when i put the gaskets up to it the openings are bigger on the intake comparied to the gasket. Is everything else the same just the port openings bigger?

thanks

The LT4 has a different intake gasket. Don't have the numbers in front of me but the GM LT4 gasket has the locating pins in different positions so that the LT4 gasket won't be used on LT1 heads accidentally. The LT4 manifold won't match to LT1 heads without considerable grinding on the heads.

The Edelbrock LT1 intake has shown a LOSS on a very mild LT1, far as I know the LT4 version is the same garbage with the holes made bigger.

The GM LT4 manifold is internally the same as the LT1, just has more material above the ports to seal to the taller ports in the LT4 heads.

So short version is LT4 is NOT an upgrade, Edelbrock LT1 NOT AN UPGRADE, absolutely no reason to think an Edeblrock LT4 would be any upgrade.

Thats what i thought.... Heres the thing, it is still stamped 7107 on the back, but it's red!!!And you can see where the port is machined bigger by Edel. That must be the only differance????. O well off to Ebay it goes because my stocker is already port matched and Powdercoated red, and my heads are matched to that!!!!

Well, if you read Feb issue of GMHTP's article that tests the LT1 7107 you looses 5HP and 6FLB of torque compaired to a HIGHLY MODIFIED stocker. So its not a complete waste of money just not worth the $500 that it costs. I just need to buy tha RIGHT one.

What was it 360flywheel HP, that is NOT a big number, a bolton car should be about there. Again FLYWHEEL not the RWHP numbers people talk about here.

One "builder" with a good repuation sells strokers rated at 420-440flywheel HP that make 320-330 at the wheels, maybe that will help show you the vast difference there can be between advertizing flywheel numbers and reality at the tire.

I agree they should have used a good set of heads NOT the Edelbrock! But your missing what I'm saying. It was comparied to HIGHTLY MODIFIED Intake!!!! they cut the top off the stocker and put some kind of apoxie in it to direct air to the #1 cilinder and fully ported it even in the plenum. So it workes well out of the box, but again not worth the money for a stock bolt on car.

I think we are talking about different tests.

Must be. It's Feb's Issue of GMHTP on page 79 they talk about RaceKrafters and how they modified the intake. Also on what would be Page 81 they show the Peak and Avg. HP and TQ numbers and if you do the math it only 6 peak HP and 5 peak TQ differance. And 4 Avg HP and 4 Avg TQ.
They only gasket matched the Air gap and cleaned up the rough cast. And they did a sh*t load of work to the RaceKrafters intake. So out of the box with a little work there better than stock and about as good as a fully ported one, but still too much money new.

I just bought the wrong one, it was used and a good deal. I would NEVER buy a new one.
