edelbrock heads

I have a chance to buy some used edelbrock heads for cheap, I was going to get ported stock heads, however I can get these for alot less and need to get my car together soon.

how do these compare to ported stock lt1 heads?

what lift can the edelbrock springs handle?

they are 54cc, what what milling them .10 bring them to?

355 11.1 with stock heads
le cam 230/240 107 .603/.600 w/ 1.6r
58mm t-body
longtubes, true duals, ewp, and full bolt ons

They dont flow much better then stock and probably wouldnt be worth the money. All the big power makers will tell you that there not worth the price.

If I was you i would get your hands on some stock ported heads.

Re: edelbrock heads

GM High Tech and performance has a bunch of articles on the Edelbrock LT1 stuff. They of course draw "conclusions" that the stuff is OK but those of us who know what stock parts are capable of see the results they publish for the entire package as a bad joke. The throttle body is the ONLY Edelbrock piece worth considering.

If they were FREE I might spend the money on gaskets to prove they would slow the car down substantially.

There is even some documentation of the Edelbrock intake being WORSE than stock. The magazine never publishes tests with the stock intake and larger TB, I would put money on that making more power than the Edelbrock intake and TB combined.

I know that all sounds very harsh but it is fact, Edelbrock's own published flywheel HP ratings for this stuff are lower than what we expect at the rear wheels with ported stock heads, as cast stock intake and appropriate cam.

Re: edelbrock heads

Building a motor with Edelbrock LTX heads and a Lloyd Elliott cam is like going to war with a real nice M4 but having no bullets.

Listen to 96capricemgr since what he's saying is the truth.
