Edelbrock heads

Before I start if this isnt the right section could a moderator please move me to the right section. I am building a 383 stroker with a 12 PSI procharger. I cant decided whether to have my heads ported or buy ported heads. I was looking at these heads and was wondering if they are even worth looking at. They are the Edelbrock Performer Aluminum Cylinder Heads. Summit part # EDL-61909....the stats they give are as fallows: 60CC Int./exh runners 170cc/60cc Int./Exh Valve 1.94/1.55 with a max lift of .600. Does anyone have these? If so are they good and do you have flow numbers??

thanks
matt

IMO, the 170 cc intakes are way too small for what you want to do. Something in the 210 cc range with very good flows would be my choice. Brodix Track 1s come to mind but there are many others for SBC. If this is an LT1, your choices are more limited than for a Gen I SBC, however.

If this is an LT1, posting it in that forum might help. I'd leave it here, too, because you might get different views on it.

What sort of power level are you thinking of? Way over 500 rwhp? over 700 rwhp?

Realize that doing it well isn't going to be cheap. The large amount of power the 210 cc (~ 300cfm flow) heads + 12 psi boost and the correct cam will give requires a stong bottom end, and a very stout driveline, but you knew that when you decided to SC it.

Boost doesn't make up for heads that don't flow enough, but it still costs big $ to blow it. If your power goals aren't outrageous, perhaps spending the SC money on excellent heads, intake and valvetrain might get you there without the blower.

Agreed. The Edelbrock heads would be great for a heads/cam 350cid daily driver, and that's about it.

I would recommend AFR 220s for your stroker, but that's my opinion of course!

What about the new trick flow's? They are supposed to flow pretty well and are meant for SC,Turbo, or NO2 motors. Right in the same price range as porting your stock heads and Edelbrock's. Summit has em for around $1300 I think.

If your talking about the Edlebrocks. I asked the same question. Every single person told me to just P&P my stock heads. I could do it for about the same price or less and probably get more power. Also if you can run the juice on a stock motor I don't see why you can't on a heads and cam car. The only thing about the Edlebrocks is I think you can still port them to flow even more if you ever wanna upgrade. That way you don't have to go out and buy more heads. But everyone I talked to said if I were to do that I might as well spend the 2G's and get some Better overall heads in the first place.
