ECT Issue

Hey guys,

A few months ago, my temperature gauge on my dashboard stopped working. Before it stopped working completely, the needle was jumping up and down like crazy! I replaced my water pump since, and hoped that replacing the PCM sending unit on the pump would fix the problem. No luck Does it sound like the actual ECT needs replacing or a pigtail problem?

Thank you so much!

The gauge is controlled by the sensor in the cylinder head, not the sensor in the water pump. You can use these diagnostic tests to check the health of the sensor/wiring.

Thank you I appreciate the quick response.

Unfortunately I don't own a DVM at the moment. I plan on getting one soon but just now I noticed something. One of the wires on the same bundle as the ECT pigtail has 2 breaks in it. It appears to be a ground wire. http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/1...nsorground.jpg

any ideas what this is for and what problems it may be causing?

Thank you!!!!
