Easiest Way????
What is the easiest way to access the passenger side 4 spark plugs and wires? i managed to get the drivers side done but it looks like it is gonna be a p.i.t.a. to try to get at the last 4. especially since the 4 wires into the distributor are behind the harmonic balancer. weeee. help yo!
It's not and easy task, but start by getting the first two (I think just the first two) from the top, then jack up the car quite a bit for plenty of room underneath. Then get to the back two from the bottom. I think thats how I did it but its been a while also the wires are just a pain to get out just work them in and out you'll find a way to get them in, I did. You have to work the boot in further back from where the wire sits I think, but my car doesn't have an EGR so it may be a little different for you.
Anyone else got some suggestions? to me it looks like the easiest way to get at the plugs is to take the exhaust manifold off, and then to get at the distributor to take the serpentine belt tensioner and the harmonic balancer off....that should be fun....
You're right on the distributor but you'll also have to take off the water pump too. Taking the fans out will give you more room and its not a hard job just unplug them and slide them out the bottom.
Taking water pumps off, taking harmonic balancers off taking manifolds off,,, all of this to chnage wires and plugs,,, I do not think so.
Now if I am missing something please steer me straight but I did both plugs, wires and compression test on my 93 in about three hours and all I took off was the serp belt and the alternator.
Takes lots of patience, lots of stubborness, and an assortment of extensions, ratchets etc. to get all of them but it is not that hard!!
Please do not take anyone's advice to remove a bunch of crap that is not required. I am starting to see a pattern on this board of poor advice from people who do not really know what they are talking about. Another post said to remove the water pump to bleed the air out our cooling systems.
I am pretty sure our engines are the same as in they are all LT1's if there is something special about your LT1 let me know.

The only reason I said to remove the waterpump and balancer is to get the distributor cap off the motor which was what I thought he was trying to do when he said he needed to get to it. For just plugs and wires all I pulled was the tensioner I did not need to pull the alternator.
