I have MAC and they were easy to put on and have great plug access.I found the hardest part of the job was removing the stock manifolds and y-pipe,after they were off the headers were easy to install.

I just installed mac headers this weekend with a couple of buddies and they were a b!@tch to do. If I didnt have my friends dad helping we would have never got done. I will NEVER do it again. Its possible though to get them in, just make sure you know what you are getting in too.

My MACs were a piece of cake to install. The hard part was taking the old manifolds off and fooling with that ****ing damn dipstick tube (2hrs by itself). That liitle POS had me about ready to drive up to GM headquarters and beat someone's a$$ for putting that thing on there. Especially on a newer engine.

i thought the easiest part was getting everything off. That only took about 4 hrs. Putting everything on was the hard part. Getting everything lined up and stuff. The dipstick was pretty easy to get out of my car. REAL easy to get back in. I guess it depends, i have never worked on a car besides putting a catback on and CAI.

I hear JBA headers are the easiest to install mainly from sport shops even though they are not in your list.

I bought a set of edelbrocks a couple months ago. I got them used bout 8 months old for 150 with Y pipe. I heard you have to take out the steering shaft to get them in, is that true? I am ready to get them in? Hope it isn't too hard.

So you didn't have to pull out the steering shaft? How long did it take you to install them in the driveway?

Thanks
Joe

I had to pull the steering shaft to install my bbk headers, and its not hard. Just dont turn the wheels or steering wheel and youll be fine. I tried to install without taking it out, and the header just dosent quite fit up in there. Heres another good one, i cant remember which side it was (its been a while) but one or both go in from the bottom. Good luck, prorac1

My MACs were easy to install, but the y-pipe didn't line up correctly. This seems to be pretty common, and if you bolt up the ypipe real tight before you tighten the headers, I think it'll be ok.

The best part of teh MACs is that for me, just using a standard spark plug socket at a 22mm wrench on the end of that socket, I can change all 8 plugs from the top in about 20 minutes.

They rock for plug access!

I've purchased both edelbrocks and hookers. The edelbrocks look cheap when compared to the hookers.

The hookers do come with a y-pipe that y's into an oval flange. Which wouldn't be a problem if Jet Hot had sent the flange to me. The flange would make a perfect start to an 4"oval tube exhaust system.

I've not install either one.

With everyone saying this and that. It needs to be said who used a lift vice a single car jack. And who did this in the backyard vice a shop

I would think that with a lift, good tools and lighting that any header install would be easier. Yet in the backyard on a single jack - few beers - dawn sitting in well it would suck

JBA are my vote.. I hadn't installed any others but all I had to do was take an air grinder and reem out the bolt holes a little b/c of the ceramic coating and they fit fine.. Look good too
