Easiest headers to install

What are the easiest type of headers to install? Short tube, long tube, best design? Also is this a driveway project or do you have to pull the motor to get them in? Is one brand easier to install than others? Is the hassle of putting them in worth the performance gain? Sorry bout all the questions but all your imput is appreciated. I need to murder all the riced out imports that mommy and daddy bought their kids at my school.

Shorties are the easiest.

My first time doing my LT's was a PITA but it just gets easier every time after that and I would have regretted it if I went with shorties or mid-length.

It's a driveway project and my Hookers were fine after the first time. I haven't worked with any other brands.

Cool

Well my vote would be the Mac Headers and Y-pipe but I see your car is a 96. If you want you could convert your dual cats to a single cat. But if you are looking to do dual cat headers I would suggest the SLPs. I have heard that they are okay on installation and there are some that say they are a pita to install. But if you take the time I bet they won't be too bad to install.

i also wan to put headers on my hawk soon! What do you mean that you can convert it from dual cat to only 1 cat? I have a 96 Firehawk and would like to know more info on this. What about ground clearance, my car is dropped from the factory, would Hooker LT's be a problem???

More than likely shorties wi; be the easiest but Perfection is worth the Agrivation. Get yourself a set of Hookers or Jet Hots and get the best you can 504.00 from MASC performance is a damn good price.

You shouldnt base your decision on the easiest to intall. You will probably get shorties and want long tubes later on.It will end up costing you more along with more labor.I suggest doing some research to come up with whats right for you.

You shouldnt look at as which is the easiest to install, but which set of headers will cause you the least amount of hair loss?

I've heard that the MAC's are easy to install, plus the spark plug access is incredible. I just bought a set, and they are beautiful. I had them coated from Jet-Hot and ordered them directly from Jet-Hot for about $540 shipped. That is using their Christmas coupon.

I don't want Long Tubes due to the hassle of getting a custom Y-pipe and scraping the exhaust, plus they are a pain to install.

The MAC's come with the Y-pipe for that price. With LT's, you might get the headers for around $520, but then you also need to get the Y-pipe, which is NOT cheap.

I'm converting to the single CAT exhaust because I bought the '94-'95 style headers which are longer and perform better than the '96-'97 style. They are more like a mid-tube header.

Here's a bunch of pics of my headers. Click on the link below.

Yeah i'll be going with MAC's because they seem to be the best for install and plug access...plus a great balance between LT's and shorties
