Dynomax bullet muffler
Does anyone have advice on replacing the single cat on my 95Z with a Dynomax bullet muffler. I have read on the message board that one or two people have talked about it. I want to remove the cat but don't want the car louder. Suggestions? Thanks
CONFUSED! After reading the messages I think I will replace the stock cat with a magnaflow. I don't want too loud and it sounds like there are many ways to try and quiet it. Now, the car has a single cat. What are its measurements? 2" in/out or 3"??? I have been told BOTH. Whats correct? Thanks for the help.
Re: Dynomax bullet muffler
Its just a 80 ser. muffler welded in to stock pipes. The guy before had a 2" straight pipe welded in place of the cat.It looks like the stock cat is a 2 1/4" in and out to me. The bullet muffler does very little a a system you may not even e able to tell its on.I suggest straight pipe the cat if you don't have emissions. Then go with a hooker system.Thats the way I'm goin.

Re: Dynomax bullet muffler
Yeah, I've looked at the Hookers today and will probably go with the Aerochamber style. They have pretty decent reviews and price isn't bad. They come in black which is the color of my car. It's a convert and totally black w/ no chrome or silver other than rims. Thanks
Re: Dynomax bullet muffler
Sound volume is about as objective as asking someone whether or not Ashley Simpson is a good entertainer unless you have a db meter in your back pocket.
I have a 4" exhaust and my engine is a 385/hds/cam, etc. I let the car run with only the y-pipe connected. After installing a 4" bullet muffler behind the Ypipe I noticed a big decrease in volume and tone. The tone was much more throat and less "crackly." However, the overall volume (sound) was about the same as a wideopen Borla on a stock motor.
I installed the bullet in the ypipe and a 6" round welded Dynomax muffler (4" dia) in the stock muffler location and the car is MUCH quieter and extremely throaty sounding. I, personally, do not really like the way it sounds, but I've already gone through too many exhaust setups and true duals are not going to happen soon. Volume (sound) of my current setup would be comparable to a flowmaster catback on a cam'd car.
