Question Dynoed car today for the first time question

Got my car dynoed at strictly dyno today

Here's the mods

1995 firebird formula 6spd

gmmg catback
k&n cai
jet hot lt headers
Stock tuning
NO free mods (yet)
283 rwhp 315 rwtq

The operator said my car was running lean. Are these number about average, low,or high? Buddy of mine was talking Sh!! saying to expect 250rwhp Could i get in the 295+ with tuning and doing some free mods?

Their was another guy up their 95 z28 auto flowmaster, hooker lt's,cai free mods, stock tuning and put down 284hp and 305tq.

thanks

mike

The only free mod thats worth a damn is TB bypass so if your car was warmed up pretty good when you dyno'ed i would say you could maybe had 3-5 rwhp on to what you got.

Seems a tad low to me. Are those numbers SAE corrected? My buddy dynoed 283 with the stock exhaust before his LT's in a 94 Formula M6 and 310 with a loudmouth and LT's.

Where was your A/F ratio during the run?? If it's running lean, then there's probably a couple HP to be found there, depeding on how lean.

The first 2 AF ratios arent that lean, 13:1 is considered ideal. the 14.4 is a little lean however. Try changing the fuel filter if you havent done so recently, and also check your fuel pressure to make sure that you arent running too low. Hey at least you werent running 15.8:1 like I did on my leanest run about a month ago, but that was also at only 20 psi fuel pressure . I pulled 263 RWHP/303 TQ with 10-15 hp loss spikes from 3500 rpm up. Racetronix fuel pump going in this week to correct that, I am expecting at least 270 RWHP/305 TQ out of it afterwards.

I would say you should have another 10 RWHP out of it also, one of the guys at our dyno day with similar mods as you made 293 RWHP with his TA with Hooker LT's.

Yo

Hey importeater That buddy of yours wouldn't happen to be NVetro would it? His Trans Am did the same thing... same specs too... I just figured you thought his car was a formula and not a Trans Am... anyway. Those #'s are sick aren't they? L0L

I don't have headers, but somehow I've managed to pull 294/323 at the wheels so far.

So that other guy up there with the Flowmaster exhaust laid down pretty much the same Hp as you?
I guess Flowmaster isn't all that restrictive afterall
