DYNO # XE224/230 and lloyds heads
DYNO # XE224/230 and lloyds heads
i went to the bristol bash on friday and dynoed my car for the first time, see sig for mods. this was on a PCMFORLESS tune.
1st run- 355.7rwhp/349.1 tq
2nd run 363.7rwhp/334.0 tq
the a/f ratio has to be worked on
WOT readings
4000-12.8
4500-12.9
5000-13.3
5500-13.5
6000-14.1
6500-14.5
also what should the a/f ratio be for part throttle? under 4K rpm he was at part throttle for some reason....and the a/f ratio was 17-18
any insights?
btw the # are SAE corrected on a dynojet.

Got your PM, car is making some fairly nice power, but doesnt explain the trap times
You have another 10-15 hp in it with some more fuel, but im at a loss about traps unless you were running it in some NASTY weather. For example, first time out with mine i trapped 107 on slicks on very hot and humid day, with low barometric pressure. Have you had it to the track more than once, and does it run that way consistently?

hey brent what setup do you have? my torque falls way off after peak, its somewhere around 250-275 at 6000....i dont have the sheets in front of me...i thought my torque should be lots better....especially since this cam is known for its flat powerband....

i looked at some of my old dynos and most of them go from 15 and immediately drops down to 13. One though jumped from 20:1 down to 13:1.
no problem there. That is probably the response time of the pcm and 02 sensors at part throttle, try rolling into the throttle instead of stabbing it. Maybe monitor your fuel pressure to see if its getting weak around 6k WOT. Maybe you want to upgrade the pump instead of adjusting the tune if that is the case since the pump probably isn't going to get any stronger
.I'd say thats a decent mail order tune for a heads/cam car.

atljar, yeah it traps 104-106 consistant, 3 separate nights, around 3000 DA with 80% humidity, but im running on hard michelin pilot tires with no track prep, i havent gotten my tires to leave a black mark period, they are like plastic or something, i cant go wot at the track until past the 330' mark. i think my 330' time is 6.6-6.7, my 60' time is always 2.5. i believe a good set of tires will help lots
it eases my mind to know my car is making power though? but why is my torque low?

What did you set your valve lash at? I'm guessing you could loosen that up and then maybe with the fuel corrections you'd pick up that 20 hp mentioned above. The aggressive XE lobes have a tendency to cause float when lashed too tight. I wouldn't expect too much more out of an a4 though.
It'd be really nice if you could show us yoru graph. Your tq is 305@6300 if you are making 365 hp there

Your mph is low and if you went WOT earlier that would help.....new tires!

The DA also has humidity which is a small effect factored in already. New tires and WOT from the holshot will help your mph though. -brent

this winters project will be cam swap part 2.
