Valvetrain is not stock. I have the comp pro mag 1.6 NSAs and 26915 beehive
springs. The heads are stock and untouched (except to install bolt on stuff).
The 227 is a nice small cam. Practically stock off idle characteristics, especially
since Jeff of Carolina Auto Masters did his magic.

Re: Dyno Tune Results

All I can say is, I think this verifys which cam I will go with when I decide to swap. Especially since this is not even with headers! Awesome flat TQ curve.

For me, the HUGE benefit of this cam is the excellent low end TQ with the improved top end. It's much better than even the "baby" Hotcam for low end TQ. It might not extend quite as far up into the higher RPM's, but much of that is wasted on a lot of cams.

I daily drive my car and a lot of my time is spent below 2500 rpm. This cam is perfect for that, plus there is no surge.

Take it to the strip, and the TQ is there in the upper RPM's as well. Very nice. It's obviously not a dedicated track cam, but looks to be a GREAT daily driver stealth cam, with enough top end to make it an excellent performer.

I would LOVE to see a follow-up run once the spark issues are resolved. Since you don't need a tune this time, it would just mean running to the dyno and doing a couple of pulls.

Re: Dyno Tune Results

SS MPSTR: Jeff (The Milkman) Creech is a great tuner and I HIGHLY recommend his tuning (get interest and fly him out for a dyno day or two in your city) and if you can get your car to him in NC, I recommend him as a mechanic too. He definitely knows his stuff, and in this sector of the performance market where integrity often goes by the wayside with success, Jeff is miles ahead of the rest in integrity, knowledge, effort, and often overlooked, enthusiasm.
Couldn't say it better myself! Jeff has done a great job with my setup. Not only did he help to spec out my cam, but he has also spent a lot of time reviewing datamaster logs that I've sent him to "dial in" my tune. I did all the mods to my car in one shot--learning as I go. Along the way, Jeff has shown great patience in answering many "newbie" questions. Even though my cam is pretty aggressive (close to the GM847)--Jeff has somehow managed to make it VERY streetable .

Now I just need to get him to Columbus for a Dyno Day.......
