Dyno Tune Results

Edited to add that I put a new opti in today and it seems like the LOL dyno
graph issue is resolved. One more trip to the dyno will verify.

All I can say is that the Milkman is "the man" when it comes to tuning
LTx cars.

Tuning Technologies was a great facility, the owners provided
excellent service and the atmosphere was very laid back.

Some of the cars had major improvements. I had gains of 9 rwhp and 4
rwtq over the basline pull. But most important for me was the dialing in
of the A/F. On my baseline pull the car was way lean. Jeff also fixed low
speed drivability and practically eliminated all the low speed surge.

I also have a spark issue to resolve. Either the plugs or optispark, or both
need to be changed. The plugs in the car are 2,000 mile Rapidfire #14s
and I will change these out with some TR-55s and do another pull. If I
still have issues it's time to put in a new optispark.

All in all I hung around for most of the day yesterday and had a blast.
Many thanks to SS MPSTR for asking the question that got this all started.
My new numbers are in my sig. Once I get the dyno graph in electronic
form I will update the sig. You will all see the nastiness above 4700 that
is probably plugs and/or opti.

317/332

Baseline was 308/328 and way lean.

Hope to hit my 320 goal by fixing the spark issue.

Re: Dyno Tune Results

I just updated my sig with the Dyno Graph and Dyno Video. The quality
of the graph is not so good since I took a pic of it, but it does show over
320 torque from 2000 to almost 5000.

Yes, with a port match and some cleanup.

Re: Dyno Tune Results

Mike: Get that thing back to the dyno - I'll bet the opti (like Jeff said) is the culprit. And yes, Mike's car is super clean and the dual exhaust set-up is well-thought and executed flawlessly. Once the ignition issue is sorted, it will run hard and hand you your *** - quietly. The exhaust is so refined for an f-body, you'd never know the car had a cam and made that kind of power. A true sleeper.

Everyone had a great time, and the results for nearly everyone were greater than they expected. If the peak 'bragging' HP number wasn't improved to the level everyone desired, the driveability issues were in every case, improved substantially. Jeff (The Milkman) Creech is a great tuner and I HIGHLY recommend his tuning (get interest and fly him out for a dyno day or two in your city) and if you can get your car to him in NC, I recommend him as a mechanic too. He definitely knows his stuff, and in this sector of the performance market where integrity often goes by the wayside with success, Jeff is miles ahead of the rest in integrity, knowledge, effort, and often overlooked, enthusiasm. He's not selfish with his knowledge, and will share (most) everything he knows to make you and your car better. Above all, he's a genuinely nice guy who's always got a place to stay in SoCal when visiting.

I'm equally pleased with the dyno facility (Tuning Technologies) and I'm very grateful for their hospitality and professionalism (thanks for the use of the tools too!). Chris and Alfred are top-notch hard core racers (who specialize in the import turbo market) who welcomed us and offered everything they had available to us. Even though the dyno was pretty new, we did have the honor of spinning the highest numbers it's seen yet! One of the attendees turned 614rwhp/622rwtq in a '96 TA - yes, it was a beast that loved the juice.

We're already looking forward to the second Milkman Tuning Tour in Southern California.

Re: Dyno Tune Results

Michael,

Thanks again for taking the lead and setting up the dyno tune. It was great
to meet you, Jeff, Chris, Alfred, plus see some nice cars put down some big
numbers. Let me know if you are going to dyno again soon and I'll try to get
out there on the same day.
