DYNO test today....see results?

95 LT1 stock re-build with minor upgradesto light weight forged pistons, cc305, Air Flow Research heads stage 1, 3000 stall in race ready trans, 4.10's in the rear, full exhaust system...

DYNO read was peak 235 HP 230 lbs torque

Is this what i should expect? what are you guys getting back as far as your dyno numbers?

Is that a typo? That's not even close to what you should put down, I made 262 RWHP and 315 RQTq on a mustang dyno, and all I have is a catback.

I thought 335-355rwhp would be the norm for a 305 with lightly ported heads. Are you still running stock exhaust manifolds? If so, get some LT's on that thing!

I had 346/342 with my CC305 and stock untouched LT4 heads.

OK....its obvious that my numbers are way low...so where to look first....everything seems to be running ok..i need a good chassis tune first....i suppose. Could it even be mechanical.......

Re: DYNO test today....see results?

When your numbers are that far off, i don't know how it could even feel like its running "ok". Your 100 hp low, its gotta be missing real bad or something. Even if the tune is off, it cant be THAT bad...
Check to see if its firing on all 8... itll be great when you find out what it is, if you think its running ok now... your gona be in for a big surprise when its fixed

Re: DYNO test today....see results?

I've had my car dynoed on both a Mustang and a Dynojet.

On the Mustang dyno I made 277 HP and 243 TQ

With the exact same mods on a Dynojet I made 340 HP and 345 TQ

Mustang Dynos are lower but your numbers do seem low. Where did power fall off at?

Re: DYNO test today....see results?

Well....about the running OK....it just came back from the shop after a cylinder was missing...plug fouled out and wires burnt.replaced all plugs and wires....But to me it still just doesn't feel right.....but i don't feel confident with my assumption. I need another driver's opinion on how it feels to drive I'm trying to rely on who built it and other mechanics....any idea where to start in my search for the horses i'm missing.

I think you might be missing 2 cylinders...you sure it's not a 3800 series?

Maybe read what you wrote again? Did you mean to be in the 300s? I'd think (hope) you knew immediately that shouldn't be what you should expect... Surprised no one commented on the dyno there either if it was really that low...

Re: DYNO test today....see results?

well start off with a full tune up. how old is your opti, wires, plugs. prolly woulnd hurt to run cleaner thru the injectors, and check fuel pressure. and you deffinalty have a tuning problem.

after my first rebuild, the idiot who rebuilt it; reused my old opti and ignition setup. i had him install a hypertech chip, so what the clown did was remove my stock chip, installed my hypertech and left the stocker off. the car was slow and it too ran fine. i drove like that for the better part of the year till i met up with some local cz28 guys who set me straight, we got a new chip, re did the ignition, and bam car felt like it had 100 hp more.

have someone who actually knows lt1s look at your tune for you. the timing may be extremely retarded

Re: DYNO test today....see results?

Everything is new.....opti spark ignition is new, wire and plugs are new twice over although i don't not know about fuel pressure and injector status.....seems like fuel system should be gone through at this point.

Clean or buy new injectors?
