just got back from dyno pro here in denver. my 96 T/A M6 put down 273.9 HP and 304.4 TQ at the wheels. only mods to the car are the corsa catback and the K&N FIPK. the graphs showed a pretty steady rise until about 4.5K rpm then it gets a little spikey. A/F ratio stayed steady around 12 through the whole rpm range..i was very happy with the numbers for my 79k old LT1 i was only expecting to see around 250. Are these pretty normal numbers for a car like this?

Thats pretty good., especially for as rich as it was running. I put down 260 stock, so I'd guess each mod gave you abot 7.5 RWHP. Not bad at all!

?

it means 12 parts air for every 1 part of fuel mixture, running rich means too much fuel, and lean in the exact oppisite

Running rich or lean is based on the air/fuel ratio. Without getting too technical, the ideal ratio for emissions is 14.7:1. The best for power is usually lower than that, and can vary from car to car as well as what kind of setup the car has, i.e. Supercharger, nitrous, N/A. I would aim for a 13.5 gradually going to 13.3 on a relatively stock car. Not sure if that is the consensus here or not, but its what I aim for. On a forced induction car, 13:1 would be considered lean. Not enough fuel for the amount of air its using. I would stay at least at 12.5:1 and probably put it at 12:1. You can open a whole can of worms there though, as depending on power, octane requirements, you may want to go to 11.5:1 or even lower. His particular car is running 12:1 and could at least be leaned out to 13:1, and would most likely pick up some power, albeit just a few hp. Remember though, its pretty much a stock car. 3 - 5 hp isn't bad for .5 - 1hr of playing around on the dyno.
