Dyno results...opinions?

Dyno graph

Drivetrain details: 11.5:1 compression 383 shortblock, stock heads with 5 angle valve job, small cam (just a touch smaller than the hotcam), 4L60E tranny with a 2800 stall Vigilante converter, stock rear end with 3.42 gears.

We didn't have time to create a program to lock the converter up in third, so the runs are from 3600 RPM to 6400 RPM (couldn't keep it in third any lower than that). It looks like my torque peak is at a lower RPM than we were able to run it at...probably around 3000 or so. Best numbers were 329 RWHP and 382 RWTQ. Probably could have done better, but we drenched the hell out of the plugs on the first run (dropped to 8:1 A/F ratio).

What do you all think...pretty good numbers for the setup? This car was never meant to be a track terror...just a good street car (daily driver). I'm hoping it'll be able to click off a low 12 this coming Saturday at the track (12.0 - 12.1).

Decent numbers I guess for what you got. I dont see low 12's though, but anything can happen. I would guess closer to 12.7's.

What are the specs on the cam? Why did you do a 383, but use unported heads? Are the valves stock size?

TQ looks impressive, but the HP is a tad low IMHO. It should make a great daily driver.

It pulled off a 12.61 @ 109 on a 1.74 60' with a crappy (and broken) TransStar converter about a month and a half ago. With a better 60' (maybe 1.6x with the Vig) and cooler weather I'm hoping it's possible. Hell, it pulled a 12.95 @ 102 down in BG running on 7 cylinders.

The cam is a Comp Cams 07-502-8...218/224 duration with 0.495/0.503 lift (0.528/0.537 with 1.6 rockers). It replaced a Crane 234/242 cam since I couldn't stand running it on the street (plus the fact that it was only getting around 8 MPG).

The heads are unported and still have the stock valves in them...the only thing done to them was the valve job. I ended up doing a 383 after my stock shortblock gave up the ghost...I was running out of money at that point and decided to wait on doing heads until I could afford to do it right.

I thought that might be the cam you have. It is a nice choice for a daily driver. Do the heads later and you should pick up another 30rwhp.

Is yours an auto or a manual? Impressive for a stock LT1...there was another guy that dynoed with my group that had a stock LT1 Firebird who only pulled off 230 RWHP with an auto tranny. I'm wondering how much power I lost due to not being able to lock up my torque converter during my pulls.

Jeff dont sweat the numbers. Im making a lot more HP than you, but no chance you will catch me running my mouth lined up next to the thing at the track. Who cares about the hp numbers, it runs what it runs

Man those are stock LS1 numbers. Is that crank or wheel HP/TQ? That's nuts.

Man that has to be crank #'s. That is very high for a stock lt1. Did you buy the car when it was brand new. Maybe it has a cam in it or something and you just don't know. But either way nice #'s.

i'm sure he just meant stock motor internally. there must be something going on there like freemods and a cutout maybe?

Nice tq on that thing! Yeah your pk hp is kinda low but you have a helluva a lot more hp everywhere else on that curve.

those are rear wheel #'s not @ the flywheel.

and I bought the car 2 and half years ago from an individual and it has g2 giglioti cold air and borla exhaust I dont' know of anything other than that too it.

but i've put 45k miles on it now @ 153K and still running stronger than ever, runs dead even too my friends 03 lightning with a +4lb pulley and diablo chip and cold air. so its quick because his lightning is'nt stock and im even with his truck

here some pics of it @ http://www.elitecrew.net/z28/

and a video of me running is @ http://www.elitecrew.net/z28/98tazac.wmv (im in the camaro on the left lane) << 13.8 run, i ran a 13.6 boggin for the whole take off so it wouldnt spin.

with some drag radials i will be @ low 13's because brians lightning did 13.3@102 before the chip and after chip im with him dead even.
and my high 13's are @ 104.5's so good mph for low 13's

anyhow enough of my rambleing
