Dyno results

Yesterday I took my car to get it dynoed. The car has:

306 cam
ported stock heads with stock valves. (I gasket matched the heads/intake -- my buddy did the bowl/finishing work, and got down into the places that I couldn't reach.)
1.6 Rockers and crane valvesprings
Hooker LT's with my homemade Y-pipe. 3" I pipe
cutout
gmpp cold air
Electric waterpump
36# injectors
PCM4less tuning

I don't have the dyno chart with me right here. I left it at my g/f's house - but I do know the main numbers.

Cutout closed it made 358.6rwhp (so close to 360 doh!) /344rwt
Cutout open 371rwhp/356rwt

One problem was that I need to adjust the valves, the rockers are clacking pretty loud. The guy said he noticed it was breaking up at high RPMs, said it felt like the valves were floating. The power was still climbing at 6400rpms, but he decided to shut it down since he felt it breaking up.

My goal was 390rwhp, and I think I can get there.

1. I'm going to fix the clacking/loose rockers.
2. Redo the exhaust system, b/c obviously it's not flowing as well as it could, if I gained 13hp with the cutout open. I'm thinking of going with a true dual setup with x pipe.
3. Go from the stock TB to a 58mm.
4. Possibly a dynotune is in order to squeeze a few more hp.

Not sure what else I can do, to get to my goal. 19hp may be harder to come by than I think, but I still think I can get there. Anyone out there have any input? I know it would probably pick up a few hp with the serp belt removed, but I can't do that on the street. I may rig up a switch to shut off my alternator whenever I want. I'm just trying to think of any little thing, that could possibly net me a few hp.

Thumbs up

Cut outs truly work...especially on cammed engines....

that sounds pretty low for the 306 to me. was he checking your A/F while you were on the dyno? were you monitering the motor for any knock retard?

I think 370 is pretty good for a 306 personally.

I always thought the average for a 306 was anywhere from 370-380s (with decent heads). Keep in mind my heads are not stage 2, stage 3, or whatever. They are home-ported, with stock valves. I'm still using the stock TB, as well. Most people have already added a bigger TB by the time they do heads/cam.
