Dyno results!

Well, finally got it to the dyno. I have mods in sig and dynoed at 387rwhp and 399(.46) tq. This is with LE1 heads, LE2 cam, shorty headers, 2.5" y-pipe exhaust to cutout, elec wp, stock TB, PCMforless tune, and rest of mods in sig. I have been running about a 108.5-109 mph out here (6000DA) and always wondered what the power was so I finally did it. I will get the chart scanned hopefully tomorrow.

I had a small blip in the dyno on all runs within 200rpms or so, it was at about 5200rpms and was a decent sized dip in there. I was thinking opti but I hope this isnt too serious for me to hit the track tomorrow night.

I did log the dyno runs, and getting 5deg of knock max every second that the throttle position is high. As soon as I let off the gas you see the knock dissapear. I tried hard to get rid of it, but nothing is working yet. How much power/track mph is in tuning out this 5deg of knock? I am very tempted to do that...

I can post logs and will post dyno as soon as I get them scanned.

Thanks for reading!

~30-40 hp, 3-4 mph.

knock retard really cuts down on power. I picked up about 4-5 mph when I got rid of 8 degrees of knock retard.

thanks for the responses guys.

I didn't think it would be that crucial with the small amt of knock I was seeing... but I might just tune it out for the track tonight. Still searching threads about it...

anyone good at looking at datalogs and telling if its false or true knock?

How much timing are you running at WOT?

its 30 at 4000rpms, 31 at 4650rpms, 32 at 5175rpms, and 33 at 6000rpms. I am pretty sure this is way low because there is 3-4 deg of knock at these rpms. As soon as I let my foot off the gas, you see the knock dissapear and there is 38deg of timing at 6250 (where I was getting 33 while in the throttle). Will get this knock fixed and maybe a new opti I think, here is dyno graph.

Every problem is different but I had a similar one at 4,800 on the dyno
and the fix was OBDI. I changed every part in the book trying to figure
it out and it ended up being the OBDII PCM. Just FYI.

I already have an OBD1 conversion PCM from pcmforless.

I was only running 90 octane at the track, 92 octane (crappy 92 octane at that) on the dyno. That would be a nice and easy fix... will give the 93 in town a try.

Great numbers, and looks like you've got potential to get more power out of that setup. I.E. Longtubes, bigger TB, etc.

Good Luck.
