Dyno results

Well i ran my car for the first time today and it put down 330RWHP and 335RWTQ i am disappointed because it stops making power before 6K rpm. On the graph it looks like that is when i stopped because it drops off so sharp, i ran the car to 6400 and it loses power all the way there, but it doesnt seem to be missing.

I am not 100% sure what cam is in it i am trying to get paperwork from the guy that built the motor i dont know what could cause it to fall off like that. It is running too lean however it started at 13.1:1 and at 6400 it was at 13.7:1.
Any ideas on what could cause the power to fall off like that?

Re: Dyno results

I'm confused: Are those mods in your signature correct or are you talking about another engine?

Re: Dyno results

they are correct to the best of my knowledge with the exception of the cam, i am not sure what it actually has because i talked to brian from pcmforless and he said it was "bigger" that a hotcam so i am tring to get paperwork and recipts

Re: Dyno results

If they're the stock valve springs that could be the problem

Re: Dyno results

I can't believe that the springs are stock. Even 1.6RRs require bigger springs. If it is a Hot Cam then it's no wonder that you run out of gains after 6 grand. And even with a Hot Cam and adequate spring pressures, I don't believe that you're not going to suffer float after 6400. JMHO

With those mods you could probably find another 15-20 with a dyno tune.

Re: Dyno results

Another thought might be valves adjusted too tight. Up higher they could start to hang open which would cause a nose dive in power too.

Re: Dyno results

i wish i could post it but i dont have a scanner or anything but the power goes from 330rwhp and 300rwtq at 5800 down to 226rwhp and 189rwtq at 6300. That just seem like it falls off awfull fast to me. The car has a great torque band its over 300 from 2000rpm all the way to 5800. What is the best way to adjust the rr's they are comp cams 1.6 self aligning? Both valves have to be closed and i have to use a feeler gauge right?

Re: Dyno results

you dont have a problem. The hotcam drops off at 5900. It wont make any more power after 6000. Dont rev it to 6400, those extra 400 rpms are spinning for no reason. I use to have the hotcam

Re: Dyno results

Somethign is wrong, it should at least carry the powerband.

Doesn't sound like the rockers are too tight.. Is it possible the dyno guy got out of it sooner than expected?

I find alot of times i'll turn the car up to 6k on the dynojet tach but the graph only goes up to 5700

Re: Dyno results

thats the thing i know it says in my sig i have a hotcam but i called brian at pcmforless and he said the idle was set at 875 and the cam was more of a 224/230 i am not sure what the hotcam is but it sounds a little more agressive than other hotcam cars i have heard. Also i "drove the car myself on the dyno and took it to about 6400-6500 on my tach which i am sure is a little higher than actual but the dynojet still said 6400 on my graph. Brian also said my rev limiter is at like 6500 or 6600 which is higher than needed for a hotcam right??? I bought this motor already built and in the car so i am still trying to figure out what is in it, i am trying to get the recipts on the motor still.

Re: Dyno results

That rev limitor is nice for a hotcammed car.

Does the car feel like its lacking power on the road at that high of RPM?

Are thier any loops in the dyno graph
