Dyno Results - 290 RWHP, 320 TQ

I wish I could scan it but my scanner isn't working....big surprise, right?

Anyways, I estimated that I'd probably be at most 300 RWHP, so I guess I'm a pretty good guesser. They said I'm a little rich and there's more power in leaning it out alone.

I'm pretty happy with the results as I didn't want a monster, just a mild street machine.

Peak Torque is at about 4k rpm's, peak HP at about 5500 rpms. I'll post up the chart if possible and the A/F readout later.

Sounds about right for an A4 with those mods, Maybe 10 rwhp less than I would have thought, just like you were thinking. Do you have CAI?, 1.6RR's?

You're just a little lower than were I am, but I have a M6. It still feels plenty quick, and that TQ is great. I'm at about 300 rwhp, 330 rwtq.

stock rockers, other mods in sig (yes I have a K&N cai btw). Motor specs here:

https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=593213

I was literally at the end of my budget, in fact I far surpassed it, I kept going further and further from a stock rebuild that I just had to stop myself. I'm glad they didn't ask if I wanted to do more, then I would have been way over. The thought of more power is too tempting. And yes, I'm aware that the rockers are fairly cheap. I WILL do them later on. Right now I'm slowly getting smaller mods when I can - Throttle body, SFC's, etc.

Yea, It is still plenty quick, isn't it? I am still surprised of how little gas I give and how hard it pulls sometimes. I swear if I'm in the right spot of the gears, I'll break traction and it'll pull f'in hard at half or less throttle....that's torque for ya.

You'll probably see better gains doing the rockers versus the throttle body. The SFCs are a good idea though.

Yeah do the rockers first b/c you don't need a bigger throttle body and SFC'c don't do much either unless you have about 450HP and drag racing alot.

What do you think it would cost to do a rocker arm swap? Keep in mind though, labor rate and cost of living is higher here, costs more for a shop to pay rent. So I'll take what you give me as a very low quote. I'm still recovering from paying for the motor, so I won't be doing much about the car for a bit anyways.

But I wanted SFC's to stiffen up the car, get rid of rattles, and gain more traction.....but I guess LCA's and tires better than the chinese Sonar Tires that came on the car are better.

You can buy a set of 1.6rr off the forsale board here or pay $260 for Comp Promagnums. Labor should not be very expensive to just swap out the rockers but maybe $150 at most. LCA's are not needed at the power level you are at. My car ran 12.50's@107mph with the GM Hotcam, 1.6 rr's , RK sport headers, Precision Industries 2800 converter, Flowmaster catback with cutout, stone stock suspension, stock 3.23's out back with 26x10" ET streets, (325rwhp). The key to running quick is having a good torque converter and good tires to hookup. Once you get into the lower 12's then you will need SFC's, LCA's, relocation brackets and so on. If you plan on racing the car at the track or street you will need a torque converter and at least nitto Drag radials to get traction or youll be slow. I prefer the M/T ET street radials over any other tire I have used and run 1.40 60's on them. Later Clint

Forget about the throttle body. The SFC's are nice to help stiffen up the car. I like mine.

The 1.6RR's will get you about 10-15 rwhp improvement. If you buy quality stuff, it can add up.

CC Pro MAgs
7/16" Rocker Arm Studs
Hardened Pushrods
Guideplates
Springs

You might already have some of those items though.

Yea, I already have some nice stuff in the engine that the 1.6RR's should work well with. probably won't be doing it for 6 months or more. What I've got now is plenty to hold me over for a while. Though I'm very impressed by T/A lt1's numbers, makes me want to strive for more more more.

Thanks for the advice guys. This is my daily driver, but I still like to have fun with it (absolutely no street racing), but I'd like to take it to the track a few times a year (both drag and twisties).

Another vote for 1.6 rockers, and maybe even 1.7. I don't have any experience with 1.7 rockers, but looking at your cam specs you could use more lift. I've kicked around the idea of running a 1.6/1.7 rocker setup to pick up my intake lift a bit. I'm .511" intake lift with 1.6 and a 1.7 would kick this up to .543".

Your lift with 1.7s would be .512"/.527" and as stated previously, probably worth another 15 rwhp.

I'm thinking about 1.6 rr myself. Is there a need to change springs or just a simple rocker swap will work fine?

Its strongly advised that you upgrade the springs if upgrading to a higher ratio rocker. The LT4 springs are a cheap way to go.

They rate them at flywheel horsepower though which does not take into account drivetrain loss. The original poster's numbers are on the dyno which takes the rear wheel horsepower measurement after the drivetrain loss.
