Matt,

The flow numbers we're 290cfm @ TEA and 288cfm here, all with stock LT4 valves.

The cam was mild for a 383, because I wanted HP peak to be around 6000. It idles like a C306 but it's smaller than that. The specs are not a secret, but it's not something that you can just bolt in without the right valvetrain. So It shouldn't be pubilc knowledge. Putting it in with the wrong parts could cause a bad valvetrain problem if matched up wrong. I think Matt knows the specs but he did pay for it, customers always get to know what's going in their engine and I guarantee that the parts I say they are in there, are there.

The intake was mildly ported, we didn't even weld it up which I could have done for some more flow.

Matt's $4000 didn't include some of the things, namely the LT4 castings, those were traded out. A dupicate engine of his would be around $6000, for the whole thing assembled. A little less if we used LT1 castings.

Matt's setup was very budget oriented and he sold off all of his old stuff to set it all up.

I wanted to spend most of the money on the heads and valvetrain which we ened up doing. His heads retail $1250 for the porting and $1250 for the cores, so that would take up a HUGE amount of that $4000 as you can see.

It's definately not a N2O setup, but a few changes to the bottom end and he could be shooting alot of juice at it.

Machine work alone on the engine is about $800.

Later this week we should have some stuff going up on here since we will start sponsoring the board.

Bret

Thanks for the corrections Bret, I must have miss read one of your emails a while back. I do have the cam specs but they are on a sheet somewhere...

And yes the LT4 castings were not included in that total. After all of the moving/selling/trading that went on I broke even by selling my old GTP heads and then aquiring the LT4's with some goodies included. So yes a set of LT4 castings would be added on.

Like I said, contact Bret for more info.

After all the money/time I spent over the last 6+ months the biggest thing I learned was to know how to deal with the right people. I dont mean to be a poster child for Bauer Racing but Bret was atamite about myself having input and I was able to talk to Bret on a daily basis. I would highly suggest contacing Bret if you have anything in the works.

Thanks again for the compliments.

intresting how he used the keith black pistons-

And i agree (big deal huh), forged pistons aren't needed for an NA setupd and are a pretty big waste of money, money that should go into valvetrain.

I wish Bret would have seen my post asking this question when I was building my motor. If he did I wouldn't have billet steel rods or forged pistons

what is the price difference between the KB's and some JE/SRP forged?

if its only a couple hundred bucks, id personally think thats worth being able to feel safe spraying some juice once in awhile.

Nice numbers, must be nice to have a 383 too. Work on that timing though. As for budget though, you could have saved $3-$4k and made at worst 30HP less.
