it was a specific batch #. a quick internet search says this from 2007
1) 49253
2) 049045
3) 49826
4) 050808
5) 051791

IIRC correctly it was initially the 1st batch # listed above but the "internet" says the others also. The box the springs come in have the batch # on them. Call Comp Cams and ask about your specific batch# if you have concerns.

It was not isolated to the "blue stripe", all Comp 918's had a blue stripe. Mine do and have been fine for 10 years

Re: dual valve spring install need help

There have been plenty of beehive failures, not just special batches or Comp brand. I try to warn as many people as I can, enjoy.

However they do work decently in flat tappet applications under 4000rpm.

Re: dual valve spring install need help

I plan to take my car to 7k but not daily. Just when its play time. I just need to get this thing out of the garage for now, if i dont feel right about these beehives ill just buy a better brand. Anyone have a link to the 918s? I might have gotten a completely different style or number of beehives.

Ill prob just google beehive 918 instead of having you guys do all of the searching for me. Typical lazy me

Re: dual valve spring install need help

Looks like these are the springs i have, the comp 26125-16 says theyre for the 4.6l mustang motor. But from what ive seen theyll work for the lt1 with the stock retainers also. So if my motor drops a valve looks like my speed shop pays the repair bill

Re: dual valve spring install need help

26125 is not the right spring for the LT1 at all. your stock "retainers" will not fit these, or any other "bee hive" spring. "locks" for the 918's are 7 degree so you can use your stock 7 degree locks unless you chose 10 degree retainers...then you need 10 degree locks.

Jesus, what a train wreck... I almost want to believe this is a joke, almost.

Just call Lloyd Elliott and buy the springs he tells you to. No more messing around. Here is his website: http://elliottsportworks.com/ He knows LT1 valvetrains inside and out, call him and take his advice.

Re: dual valve spring install need help

Already went and took those springs back they called and had me mixed up with another customer. So i took my spare set of heads up there and we got the correct springs and locked them in to my spare heads. Finally got the right ones.after alot of wasted time
