I would get springs for the LT1 or bee hives like comp 26918 with the correct retainers, locks & locators
these springs are off of sportsman 2s for the older small blocks, ive talked to a few speedshops and they said as long as the valve is the same diamiter they will work just fine, because the lt1 can handle upto a 1550 wihtout needing machined

I don't know what you're trying to measure compressing the spring to 2.0", the max set up height is 1.750" with a weak 90 # seat pressure. As stated you will be limited to a 1.5 rocker and third, probably have rocker/retainer clearance issues. There are better choices.

Re: dual valve spring install need help

OP

since your motor is on a stand and easy to work on....

if you now have a spring locator that fits the head properly (no slop around valve stem guide base) and clears the inner spring just install two on any cyl (#1) then rotate engine and when spring is fully compresed look to see if there is any clearance between coils which should be a min of .035. also confirm you have no rocker to retainer conflict

good idea to see wtf installed height would be but you need a spring height tool to confirm they are 1.700-1.750. The specs you publish show what seat pressure is at those installed heights.

Re: dual valve spring install need help

just checked rocker to retainer clearences, not a single problem. no rubbing or touching at all, pics below, im using stock rockers for now as to not over do it with the springs, so i now prob have an almost stock lift cam in it, so ill end up swapping springs next time i get the extra cash and time ill install my 1.6s on there and new springs, just dont have the cash at the moment.

A lot more to selecting springs than addition and subtraction. What are the full cam specs?

Without more details I'm not sure what's worse, the ebay springs measured in millimeters or the mystery beehives.

I'll give you some advice, cutting corners on valve train is going to leave you with some interesting garage wall art.

Re: dual valve spring install need help

Why not buy springs from whoever ground the camshaft? Search "broken beehive" and see what you find.

SS

the "bee hive" spring most commonly used in the LT1/4 is the Comp 26918 aka "918's". Other brand bee hives also use the same part #

Been running them for years and they are the spring spec for the Comp "XFI" grind cams.

Years ago there were reports of failed bee hives associated with a specific "batch" #.

They had a blue stripe on them, the new redesigned spring is all silver.
