dual exhaust on an LT-1 firebird

does anyone know of a true dual exhaust on a 93-97 firebird?
i am looking for one. any links or pics would be great

Try a "search" on the term "true duals" (or the often misspelled "true duels"). There are a large number of people running dual exhausts on 93-97 LT1 cars. There is a huge number of posts about them.

the summit or jegs universal x-pipe kits are the most popular and probably the cheapest way to get true dual exhaust for our cars. Im running the 2 1/2" x-pipe from summit and some dynomax mufflers. look in the pics section of www.ls1sounds.com, they have some nice pictures of setups and the ground clearance.

I got a universal X-pipe from Summit, some Dynomax "Bullet" mufflers, weld on flanges, hangers and turn downs. I loaded all the stuff up, trailered the car to an exhaust shop (because it was too loud to drive through town and had expired tags) and when I got there the guy said he could do it, but he would have to bend some extra pipe to get it to work, and this extra pipe he would have to bend would be a big restriction. The X-pipe that I got was not wide enough to mate up to the Hooker Long Tubes. Maybe the Jeg's X-pipe is different.

I ended up just getting a true dual exhaust pre-fabbed for an LS1 from www.texas-speed.com. It still needed a little bit of tweaking and welding up but not bad. It doesn't come with flanged collectors, it's meant for slip fit collectors so you'll need to buy a pair of 3" flanges if you go this route. Apparently the LS1 headers come out really wide, so as a result this setup is too wide. All we did to make it fit was take the bigger pipe on the driver's side, put it on backwards, trimmed it to fit and welded it up. Clearance is a bitch on the driver's side right after the header collector because there is some body bracing right there. You might have to dent the pipe in a bit because mine is hitting there under acceleration.

The only drawback I see with this setup is that you have to drill holes in your floorboard for the exhaust mounts. I don't like drilling holes in my car, but it was necesary. Just remember, measure twice, cut once!
