DTC 71....Trying to get A/C working after engine swap.
DTC 71....Trying to get A/C working after engine swap.
Tried charging the system today (its all empty) but the compressor wont kick in at all so i cant get any freon in the system. I get a DTC 71 on my scanmaster which is for something with low temperatore indicated? I dont know, i checked the voltage at the pressure sensor and its fine. Everything worked fine before removing the engine......any ideas where to start looking?
Adding some refrigerant is always enough to get my a/c to come on when I am charging. First you need to evacuate the air from the system with w/ vacuum pump. With an evacuated system you should be able to get some refrigerant to feed in even without the compressor on. Did you do that?
Then you can start adding refrigerant through the LOW side port. It should feed pretty good on an evacuated system. Can upside down will feed fastest. Warming the can a little under hot water first helps too.

The compressor will NOT kick on if there are ANY ac related codes. PCM will not let you continue.
Fix the evaporator temp sensor. It's under the dash, passenger side. Attached to the side of the plastic case housing the HVAC components. Three wires lead to the connector, two wires from the connector lead to the temp probe attached to the evaporator core.

Oh, he switched from V6 to V8. I did not know that. I think the V6's have an orifice tube a/c system, as opposed to the V8's TXV system, right? Does the orifice tube system even have an evap temp sensor?
