Car is posting DTC 61.

Right now the AC compressor on the motor will not kick in. If I short across the relay, the compressor will kick in so the problem is not circuit related at least from the relay to the compressor.

If I pull the PCM fuser and reset, the AC does work and make cold air for a short time then the code again comes back and then the AC compressor wont work.

Any thoughts. Its hot as hell here.

 

Your charge is probably low. The PCM is protecting the compressor from damage by shutting it off.

 

I had the exact same problem with mine last week same code. Mine actually turned out it just needed a recharge it took about 1 can of R134a. At first I was stumped cause mine low side reading said it was full, but my high side was very high and flucuated a lot. So I started filling and it took a whole can and still read it could take more but I stopped cause the air was blowing hella cold.

Thanks guys. I have a can of 134A. Do I need guages to monitor the pressure? What do they typically cost?

 

yeah just get a can that has a guage built on it mine was like 20 bucks at advance auto parts.
