DTC 36, Did a search here and found ...

Today the service engine light illuminated on my car, checked for codes, found DTC 36. After searching here for a while found the first thing to do is clear the code and see if it comes back and how often.

It seems that it could be a code that may only appear at times and if it keeps reoccuring then there is a problem, and the best place to start is electrical connections and grounds before pointing the blame at a defective opti. Sound right ? Anything else I should know ?

Thankyou.

When the PCM detects a discrepancy between the low res and high res signal. In other words, it's an electronics problem, not a cap & rotor problem. Usually it means the opti needs to be replaced. It CAN be a harness issue, apparently.
