Drops of coolant all on the front side of my engine...

I had done some hard driving 3 nights ago and the low coolant light came on the next morning and I found the coolant under the car. So I start looking around and it's everywhere. Not much but it's everywhere, what scares me is that I saw it on the opti vacumn line VERY close to the opti and on one of the plug wires going into the opti. I just looked for half an hour and could not find where it is leaking from.

How the hell am I supposed to find this leak? It's under my intake elbow, on my sway bar, on some coolant hoses. I don't see how one leak can cause all these problems? Could it be too much pressure in the system? How can I find/fix this? I'm going to go drive the car to make sure the opti is not effected and get some air going through it.

Have you checked the weephole on the bottom of the waterpump housing?

Yep, sounds like a toasted waterpump.

The way I've always narrowed down the location of leaks was to drive the car for a bit until the coolant gets up to temp, then park it and take a look. You should be able to tell then.

Thanks for replying. If it is the weephole what does that mean? Bad waterpump? I don't think it is a bad WP... all the coolant I found was on the bottoms of things... is it possible for a bad WP to have coolant on the bottom on the intake elbow but not on top of the WP?? It's really weird, it's in places where you think how the hell could it get it here and not get other places.

My heater hose had a slight split once and coolant sprayed up and coated the bottom of the elbow...

Okay I started it, drove it and came back and waited and I finally see coolant... it is coming down behind the opti and around the crank pulley to drop on the sway bar then on the ground... Bad WP????

Methinks it's cam time... is it?

If it is coming out of the weephole, it is time to replace. The reason you have coolant in places that seem weird is that it is leaking out of the weephole onto your serpentine belt which then slings the coolant all over the engine.

seems like u have it figured out but heres my input, i was two minutes away from ordering waterpump for mine and then was doing somthing esle underhood " cleaning intake" and i had to push the trottle bypass line out of way to get the donkey ......
on the elbow back in place and i relized that when the hose was push just right that it would leak but only in certain position,
it was leaking all down front of engine and bottom of elbow just like yours, probley is your water pump, but this is free to fix, if by chance it is this, worth a shot i guess ...............

Don't rule out the possibility that one of the metal hose fittings on the water pump could be loose. I once had that problem, and I was able to rectify it with some good ol' J.B. Weld.

Sounds to me that the waterpump either gasket or pump itself is toast. It is easy to do and needs to be done eventually.
