Dropping the gas tank... (During rear swap)

Hey guys. I am going to be swappin out the rear end here in a couple weeks. I'm wondering if I shoudln't drop the tank and throw in a new in tank fuel pump while I'm at it. To anyone who has done it before, how much work is involved in dropping the tank once the rear end is out? Is it like a 1 hour job, or like a 5 hour job? Also, how much work is involved in the pump swap once the tank is out?

Thanks in advance...

Garrett

P.S. Any sites with guides and/or pics that you guys have would be great...

If your fuel pump is not bad then there is no need to replace it unless you are running out of fuel. In order to get the tank out you will need to drop the exhaust and remove the heat shields. I would say about an hour job. The biggest PITA is getting the tank out once everthing is loose. Also hope your gas tank is closer to empty then full.

I have had to drop my fuel tank twice in my life. I'd rather give away an unborn child than do that again!! Biggest PITA I can think of....

P.S. Do yourself a fover and don't even try to do that job alone..

I cut the filler neck when i did mine, then used a rubber connector to reattach it.
That tank was nothing but problems, I have an aluminum fuel cell in there now.
