Drop Top Rattles
Ok, when i drive around over bumps or just a little rough road my drop top shakes and gives off some noise, what are some things i could due to eliminate this problem and stay away from the rattles?
You can try putting plastic washers between the hinge joints. This was how my 89 IROC conv. came from the factory(ASC). Cut the washers so it slips over the joint pins. You have to take the liner off though to get to them.
or get a 4 or 6pt roll bar...will help the sqeaks and rattles and it will look badazz when you have the top down...
if you didn't want to go that hardcore...i 3rd the sfc...like $160 i think from BMR

tbyrne has wolfe roll bars starting at $290 for 6 pt. weld in style. the bolt ins are also available but are more expensive.
i'd also consider the Jig notching so that every thing fits together perfectly.

If you plan on track time at all, I would forget the SFCs and just go with a rollbar, the NHRA tracks require a 5 point in verts at 13.99 and quicker IHRA requires at 13.5 so since are cars are pretty much there stock, you can't go wrong getting one, and having obth bar and SFCs is overkill. I plan on getting the boltin for mine, this way I can remove it, incase I go on a long trip with friends, also the side remove bar, is a good option to have. The 5 point is good till 11.00 and the middle bar across the back must be welded in to be track legal
I need to call and find out if they sell just a 5 point, I really don't need a 6, but it looks like they don't, at least not for cheap. I've seen these rollbars in verts, and it does look awesome! Also keep in mind rollovers can happen, my first time at the track, a camaro ran over the rail, and landed upside down. Be safe not sorry!

Be sure it is the top, on mine i thought my top was ratteling as i went over some bumps, but i found out it was actually the trunk hood. When you close it there are two bolts on the left and right sides of the trunk cover (towards the front of the car) which slide into grooves on the body. When i went over a bump, the trunk would be pushed slightly down from the motion just enough to make the bolt in the groove tap the metal at the bottom of the groove.
Try pushing the rear bumper down and up a few times with your hands and you should be able to replicate the rattle wherever it is to pinpoint it
