DRL Install

wow what a pain in the ***...i ran all of my wires....and then when i got to puting the relays on....wow i broke the pins off of two of them...theres a nice $8 washed away and then i think i have the lineup wrong on the relay because when i start the car and flip the switch, it makes my turn signal BRIGHT but the turn signals dont work so i messed up somewhere and i still have to get the relay pins pushed through on the wiring on the left light....

so i still have some more work to do....seems like it will be worth it....by the way i followed an online thing that was on one of these boards....

so after i was done for the night i figured i would run a ground from my switch so it would like it...just for hte hell of it.....give it 10 seconds and everything starts smoking and melting away.....how AWESOME huh? O well looks like ill have to lay all the wiring out again.....anyone have any pointers? has anyone done this install b4?

yeah it was really easy....whats the link to the page you are using? By the way the reason that your turn signals didn't work is because you needed to buy the heavy duty electronic turn signal relay. The wimpy thermal stock one won't work. Personally it sounds like you're not very good with electricity, so I'd keep a fire extinguisher close by... Good Luck!

As for tips or pointers...put the relays you spliced in inside plastic bags and tie rap them so they don't get wet. Take the electricity from the fuse block on the driver's side under the hood and you don't have to worry about the switch. They'll come on when you turn on the car and go off when you turn it off. I've had mine for over 5 months just fine. One thing you may want to do is disconnect the parking lamp line. I found that if you leave them connected like normally, at night when you have your lights on and turn on your turn signal you will get almost a flicker instead of a blink.

also...how in the hell did you get the relays to punch into those lil blue, black, and brown wires..it is taking me forever to get them in without breaking them...

what did you follow? Can you by any chance write me somethin up if you get a chance...and by the way...yes i suck at electricity haha i have some pics of my set up if you want me to email them to you or somethin....maybe you can help out a lil ..

I'm sorry man, those are the exact same directions that I used. I really don't know what to tell you. O and the turn signal lamp that you got is still a thermal relay. I'm not sure if it will work, but it may. I really wish that I could be over more help. Like I said before do not connect the black wire. You will like the results better if you do not. Once again sorry.

If you don't mind not having a switch, then I'd recommend this. It functions like the newer cars, though when you turn off your headlights at night, your DRL's go on, and they ARE bright Just my $.02

did you cut the stock blue wire? It goes into one terminal on the realy and then is attached to another. Are any of your wires shaffed and shorting out? I hope you are using a fuse too....that link is the one i used also and it worked perfect. Good luck
