Driveshaft Balancing

I am pretty sure my ds is out of balance and dont really feel like coughing up the cash to buy a new one. but is it cheaper to buy a new one then get my current one balanced, and does anyone know somewhere in chicagoland area where something like this could be done. Thanks in advance.
Dan

I am in the same boat you are. My driveshaft is a piece of crap. I get the shakes after 90. I called my mechanic and a couple of others and they said just buy the LS1 ds. Because the balance will not last plus you get a few more horses at the rear

Well they are going for about $150. They are easy to install but you have to know what you are doing.

Just be careful when buying a used alum shaft, The balance weights tend to come off quite frequently ( I have had 3 do it) One of them came that way from an ebay auction. Simple install (4-bolts) It is around 35-50 bucks to balance a DS.

Be sure to buy some Tranny fluid. It will leak out the end of the tranny.

Just jack the car up from the rear and leave the front on the ground, that will keep it from draining fluid out of the tail
