Double check those A/C lines
Double check those A/C lines
Stopped at a light today behind an older Diesel Mercedes. All of a sudden I'm engulfed by what I thought was smoke. Got around teh diesel and everything was fine.....except my Air Conditioner started blowing warm air.
A quick check underhood revealed the A/C line from the condensor to the compressor that had rubbed up against a bracket, and wore a hole right through it
The "smoke" I saw, was a cloud of my R134a rapidly leaving the system.
This oughta turn into a couple hundred dollar repair.
Moral: With all that motor, and no room....double check all your wiring and lines.

Re: Double check those A/C lines
Well if the summer gets too bad, the whole mess might need to go right back in. But, for now, i'm happy to have it out of the car - makes it a LOT better to work on. Sorry, but I don't want to part it out.
Re: Double check those A/C lines
The high pressure line from the condensor to the drier was rubbing up against the battery for who knows how long and cracked on me last week..while I was charging the system after replacing the drier and compressor.
It's good now though..only $37
