Mine was the mufflex 4" dual out system, but yes, it sounded good without cats in person. I'm not too thrilled with the sound clips out there.

Re: Don't like magnaflow (recommendations)

Have you had someone drive it by you?
If not have it done before you go any further.
Why? Because I thought my car was sadly quiet too. Then I stood along the roadside and had a friend do some different runs by me -wide open, half throttle, low RPM, no throttle.
It made me love my Magnaflow even more, because it does NOT seem loud inside the car, but it sure is outside the car. Loud but not overkill.

Where did you get yours from?

Re: Don't like magnaflow (recommendations)

I vote flowmaster again. I really like my american thunder catback, but if I were to redo my exhaust I'd go true duals with dual 1 chamber flowmasters and x-pipe. One flowmaster and no cat is to loud for me, 2 flowmaster and no cat is just right.

I love the way this one sounds: http://www.ls1sounds.com/true_duals/...X_01SS_rev.mpg
(Kooks 1.75" LT, Dr. Gas X, Flowmaster 1 chambers)

I've had hooker and now I have magnaflow on my firebird and I'll tell you the magnaflow is really loud. Its probally twice as loud as hooker.

I have supercomp headers, off-road Y, and a LS1 Maganaflow.

Re: Don't like magnaflow (recommendations)

I think the ls1 magnaflow is different than the lt1 version, dosent the ls1 version have two pipes that exit on one side, and then one pipe wraps around?

No, I think the only difference is the I pipe.

Well I've seen the ls1 magnaflow and both pipes exited on one side but one pipe wrapped around to the muffler. On mine the i pipe goes into the muffler and the exhaust hits a v, one side is directed through the muffler, while the other side is directed straight out the passenger side pipe.

Well, Its magnaflow, we ordered it for our LS1, got it with LS1 instructions and the box was even marked 98-02. I've pulled the magnaflow off our LS1 after it was ran over by a semi truck and put it on my LT1 firebird and i'm telling you theres no wrap around pipe.

Re: Don't like magnaflow (recommendations)

no wrap around pipe, Its just like every other catback with the exception of some really cool bolt on exhaust hangers. I really love those things.. it makes aligning the tips much much easier.

Hey sorry, I'm not trying to argue with you.

Scroll down on this page to magnaflow and you'll se what I'm talking about:

I guess I'm wrong but I always thought this version was for the ls1, and the kind that me and you have was for LT1's.

Re: Don't like magnaflow (recommendations)

I bought the pipes locally second hand. I then bought the muffler direct from Spintech. I'm using Spintech race mufflers for the street on my new setup in a dual 3" configuration.

AStoundingly not many after market mufflers sound as good on LT-1's as they do on other cars. For the LT-1 the best sound I've heard was from BORLA!

Re: Don't like magnaflow (recommendations)

Just run true duels and bullet mufflers. You'll get that old school sound and one side won't be any louder then the other.
