Sounds like you replace just as much as me! I wish it was that easy, the new MSD came with a new harness...

My miss turned out to be knock. Told the PCM to stop monitoring knock retard due to bogus sounds. As long as I know I'm not lean or too much timing, then why is it knocking so much? My delteq did help however, but the PCM changes made all the difference.

If you pull your timing out and richen it up, your knock should disappear and your 5K miss (4800 for me) should go away.

Yep, they actually narrowed the gap and it helped the miss a little bit, but not much...

I put a set of TR55s in my stock motor with 5lbs of boost and the car ran horribly from about 4500rpm on. After gapping the plugs down to .030 it ran like clock work... till about 9 months later when it blew up. I'm about a week out from getting the new motor running. I hope you're pleased with your new setup when you get it all together

You won't regret moving to the ls1, just don't throw parts at it the same way. They are not perfect either.

In the end its still an engine, it needs air and fuel, and theres always more than one way to skin a cat.

Thanks, i feel ya. Its just that there are plenty of shops around here that can make my car faster... Just not very many that are good at diagnosing problems. So I kinda had to do it myself and i just started replacing things that the shop, and guys on here thought might be the problem. But hey, now all of those parts that I "threw" at it to fix it, i can no sell to ya'll at a discounted price and have some cash to start my new project! so everybody wins!

What do you want for the whole pullout?

My 78 still needs a motor.

Evil running LT1

The idea of using an oscillscope to diagnose is a good/best one.
In a DARK place, no lights of any kind, with the hood open, start the engine and watch for arching between wires and the block, ect...have someone rev the engine to the miss RPM speed- you might need to use a mirror to see under the exhaust manifolds. Also, do any of the plug wires touch each other? They should not touch. Good luck Ted

Haven't really decided yet. I need to get rid of this engine so i can have money to start the swap so i'm sure we can work something out. Its a new engine with 1,000 on it, forged, done the right way with good flowing heads. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 2500-3k. Let me know if you are interested.

Don't see how that could be causing a high rpm miss?

What kind of wire are on it? Also yes why didn't you have it put on a scope? I went through 4-5 sets of spark plug wires and many other parts trying to find my high rpm miss. Ended up being the wires from autozone and advanced tried all the different brands they had and they all messed up. I went with Taylor OTVC wires and Ac delco plugs, bam pulled like a freight train again. Thing is all of those wires appeared fine and showed normal resistence with a multi meter.
