doing a swap, wanna do mild rebuild, can i use alum bearings?????
i bought a 95 z28 with from waht i'm told 84k miles. god only knows if this is really actual. anyways, it seems to run well, no real smoke out the exhuast, no blow back out the oil filler cap, but i do hear some ticking near the top of the motor in the valvetrain area, or maybe its just injectors, but theres a small exhaust leak after the converter and i hear it ticking out that also. so i'm thinking its in the valve train.
what exactly would make it tick? are the valves adjustable and are the stock rockers roller setups?
last question is I hear alum bearings vs tri metal are the way to go. can i just drop these in? or do i gotta get the crankshaft machined. i dont hear any knocks.
please help

If you dont have any blowby and your oil comsumption is low i wouldn't worry about putting in new bearings...waste of time. I did but it was because i had the engine out to do a cam swap that turned into heads, rings, bearings and new stronger rod bolts.
When my car was stock it always made a slight ticking sound, i think that it is the injectors. An arching spark plug wire could also make a ticking sound.
