Arrow does this sound like a reasonable setup?

Hey guys, earlier this fall, my car detonated because of a faulty egr, and so now im going w/ a brand new setup. Its a splayed 4 bolt 396 w/ eagle forged crank, eagle h-beam forged rods, srp dished forged pistons, a set of lt1 heads fully ported w/ 2.02/1.60 valves, new springs, pushrods, gm 847 grind cam, jet hot long tubes.

I just have a few ?'s for you guys:
-the heads are estimated to flow around 260/195 from the builder. is this enough to support the motor and cam?
-also what size injectors would you guys reccomend doing?
-would it be safe to put this motor on spray? and if so how much would be a good safe but worthwhile shot?
-anything eles you guys think i should bother doing while im building up my car?

haa besides save for a 12-bolt!

Thanks,
Nick

You should go with a set of 36# SVO injectors (superior pintle design).

What kind of compression ratio are you shooting for?

Whose tuning the PCM for you?

You should also upgrade the fuel pump to a Walbro 255 or 310.

Your cylinder head cfm numbers are about average (I'm guessing those #s are at .550 lift). So they should be fine. What's more important is how they flow at all lifts and if there is any turbulence or not.

thats a decent number but youll be alot better of with more flow with that big motor if your looking for some good power. and i would spray a 150-200 shot easily on that motor!

IMO those heads will be insufficient for a 396. Would be a good set for a 355 though. Mine flow 283/192 and I think even that is still low for such a big cube motor like you are putting together.

im planning on getting it dyno tuned at speed inc... as far as compression, it's around 12.3:1 w/ a 58cc head. i was actually thinking about getting the granatelli motorsports 255gph pump? is it an inline pump? so 36lb injectors, that sounds about right, where is the best place to purchase them? the only thing that i have ? about is the heads, i know they arent the best flowing heads that i can put on a 396, but im going to try to talk to the porter and see if he can get a lil more flow out of them. i think something more like 280/200 or sumthing would be much better!

what kind of power should i be looking for out of this setup w/ a full dyno tune?

anyone have a 396? dyno/track numbers please!

thanks again,

Nick
