Angry does this sound like I need a engine rebuilt?

This started recently my oil pressure is lower then before. At idle its like 13-15psi, when I try to go forward with out adding gas just letting off the clutch the psi drops in red and check gauges light comes on once the car starts to move with out adding gas the psi goes up little, this almost happends every time I do that. At cruising speed 1500rpm I have seen psi as low as 22-25psi. I don't know what the psi is at wot but I am sure its over 40 psi, I will have to check that. Right now I am using ac delco oil filter and 5W30 mobil one oil, I now that using 10w30 oil will raise my oil pressure but it was fine before when I used 5w30, I have 70k on the clock.

I would use it as a good excuse to rebuild it into a 383.

I hope it doesn't cost as much as my friend's engine build. He has a 89 Mustang 5.0. Took out the 302 and rebuilt it into a 331 stroker. Got AFR racing heads, BBK longtubes, light flywheel, comp cam, paxton supercharger, etc. etc. etc. He spent well over $6000 for all the parts and installation. BTW, he bought the supercharger before, so that isn't included in the $6000. He got the SC used for $800. Lucky as crap.

383 isnt too expensive you can buy the stroker kits starting at like 1300 and they can go to the sky in price.

Thats actually a good deal though for a stroker w/ a paxton. I bet that thing is FAST. It seems like he would have to do tranny work though to hold that hp.

Its often Oil go bad.
Rebuilding Engine is not cheap.
Lots of hidden cost and lots do and dont, and some times regrets too.

Hey Jason......don't let them fool you. It's not the kit that's gonna kill you. I thought the same thing. Everybody on the board was telling me it wasn't that expensive and they're right to an extent. But the killer is all the lil things you have to do also. For example....with the 383 I had to get a bigger TB (400.00) ...injectors (250.00) ....computer reprogrammed OBD1 conversion (200.00) ... FelPro gaskets (200.00) Of course headwork because you wont get max power out of the 383 without good flowing heads..($$$). Then while I was in there I rebuilt the tranny, torque converter and put in a Beast Plate to handle the pounding. I also changed the waterpump and Opti while in there. I would say....... minus the tranny I ended up spending about 6K. Also I did the removal, disassembling and rebuilding myself. So dunno about labor. Of course I didn't absolutely need some of the stuff I got but I figure while I'm ion there I might as well do it now or do it later. Much easier to do while the motor is out.

The machine work with the stroker kit was about 2600 with the forged internals. Do all the math before hand. Like I didn't have the choice because I blew my motor.

Drop me an email and I can go over all the details.

I think we found Saddam. He decided that he wanted to give up the Mercedes and the Jags for a Camaro...
